Day and night runners for us on Friday ahead of a busy Saturday.

Maly Malt is the first to go, making her debut in race two at Werribee for 3YO Maiden Fillies over 1100 metres with Robbie Downey aboard.

The daughter of Capitalist has been given time and Mike Moroney says is ready for the races.

“She’s a professional sort that we haven’t rushed but has come along nicely this preparation,” Mike said.

“She’s ready to go after two short course jumpouts at Flemington where she hasn’t been put under too much pressure but has shown me enough to suggest that she will be competitive

“She looks to have struck a handy enough race with some city form in it and some other well-bred debutantes so today will give us a good guide on where she sits.

"She’s drawn nicely in five after some scratchings and this is a good place to get her going.”

Heart Of A Lion runs in race three, the Maiden Plate over 1600 metres with Zac Spain riding.

“She’s drawn eight in a nine-horse field which is not ideal and a lot will depend on the tempo of the race,” Mike said.

“There’s a bit of form in the race and the trip is a bit short of her best but she looks terrific, is training well, I’ve put blinkers back on and I’m expecting a good run.

“If they did happen to go along at a good clip and she can get an economical run then I’d be looking for her to be finishing off nicely.”

Nerve Not Verve (pictured) runs in race three at Moonee Valley over 2040 metres and Mike feels this is a good opportunity for the mare to get back into the winners’ circle.

“She’s in great form and I can’t fault her,” Mike said. “She was just caught last start at Flemington and she can get a nice lead and begin to step it up before the 600 metres then I do think this looks a winnable race for her.”
