SNAPPER RACING AT PAKENHAM TONIGHT

Snapper and Kentucky Ruler are our Thursday runners when they competes at Pakenham later this evening.

Kentucky Ruler is the first to go in race three, the 3YO Maiden Plate over 1400 metres. The son of Shalaa resumed with a promising third at Geelong and has pleased Mike Moroney since.

"We were very pleased with his run at Geelong and he's done well since," Mike said.

"Unfortunately tonight he's drawn the outside which will likely force us to race back so he's going to need some luck.

"He's a horse I like and I think he has a future. I'm confident he can still run well despite the barrier and I'm hoping Blaike can get some luck and the horse can run well."

Snapper (pictured) runs in race five over 1200 metres with Mark Zahra aboard jumping from barrier eight.

It is the third start this preparation for Snapper and Mike Moroney is expecting an improved performance tonight.

“I was disappointed with his last start at Caulfield however, I gave him a jumpout after that and he went very well, more like his old self and since then this horse has turned the corner and looks terrific,” Mike said.

“I put blinkers on him for that jumpout but I’ve resisted the temptation to use them race day just yet. From the draw I will not be surprised if he was able to fly the start and get across to lead.

“I can’t fault him, he’s going the right way and all things being equal I will be disappointed if he doesn’t run well tonight.
