CITY RUNNERS AT SANDOWN

Two runners for us at Sandown today following the impressive win by Philadelphia Storm on Tuesday.

Quail Hollow and Tour Of Duty are our representatives with Quail Hollow the first to go in race six.

It is the first start this preparation for Quail Hollow (pictured) in the benchmark 64 handicap over 1300 metres and the son of Toronado has pleased Mike Moroney in the lead up.

“It’s his first run after a long break from his last start in March and I’d say he’ll need it and be better off over a bit further,” Mike said.

“Drawing the outside barrier dictates that we’ll likely go back, especially as we’ve been trying to teach him to settle.

“We’ve put Madeleine Wishart on him today, she’s a very capable young jockey down here from Queensland, has been riding the horse in his work and her two kilo claim helps.

“He doesn’t have any wet track form but with no rain the ground should have improved by his race. He looks well, has jumped out well and is working well so I’ll be happy to see him balance up in the straight and work home nicely.”

Tour Of Duty runs in the last race, the benchmark 64 handicap over 1600 metres with Jordan Childs riding and back in distance after finishing unplaced last time out over 2200 metres at Sale.

“He’s nice and fit and I’m happy with the way he has worked,” Mike said.

“Dropping back in distance should help and from the draw he should be able to race on the speed.

“I think the drop back in trip will suit - it’s a competitive contest but if he can reproduce his best form then he will be competitive.”
