FOUR RUNNERS ON THE FINAL DAY OF THE CARNIVAL

Sound, Keats, Leiter and Hawker Hurricane are our runners at home on the final day of the Flemington Spring Carnival.

Keats starts the day for us in race one over 1600 metres where he will be ridden by Kerrin McEvoy and Mike Moroney says the import is improving with each start.

“It’s his third start for us here in Australia and he’s improving with each run,” Mike said.

“His gallop on Tuesday was excellent and the best he has done since arriving here.

“I’m thinking he might be better going forward if he flies the gates. I’ve added a tongue-tie to him and if as I say, if you go on his work then I think he’s a winning chance.”

Sound (pictured) runs in race two, the Queen Elizabeth Stakes over 2600 metres with Jamie Mott in the saddle.

“It’s a small field and he’s drawn barrier one which may not be ideal,” Mike said.

“I’m really happy with the horse, he’s going well and with ordinary luck in running he should go close to winning.”

Leiter and Hawker Hurricane both run in the last race of the day and carnival over 1100 metres with Jordan Childs riding Leiter and Daniel Stackhouse aboard Hawker Hurricane who is equal top-weight with 62kg.

“If we do get the forecast rain it will suit him,” Mike said. “He’s got the weight but that’s because he’s the best horse in the race and if he produces his best than he has to be a real chance.

“He loves the straight and he’s a very genuine horse so he’ll be there trying his best.”

“Equally I’m really happy with Leiter - he loves the track and he’s improved for his last run.

“He gets in nicely with the weight but he’s one that will not want too much rain. If it doesn’t arrive then that will suit him and he can run well in what looks a pretty competitive sprint.
