BENDIGO CUP DAY RUNNERS

Aktau and Bank Bank Bank represent us at Bendigo on Wednesday with Aktau running in the $400,000 feature Bendigo Cup.

The import finished unplaced last time out in the Herbert Power Stakes at Caulfield and has Mike Moroney delving his bag of tricks to rekindle the six-year-old.

“He’s been out of form of since his injury and I’ve been changing things around with him to try and find his best,” Mike said.

“I will say that appearance wise he is starting to look a lot better and he’s fitter as well.

“That said, he has to find his best and if he did happen to do that then he is certainly good enough to win.

“He’s nice and bright in himself and I’ll be asking Michael Dee to put him on speed and then it will be up to the horse.”

Bank Bank Bank runs in the Maiden Plate, race two over 1100 metres with Daniel Stackhouse aboard.

“He’s drawn nicely for a change which is a plus and I’m happy with the horse,” Mike said.

“His last piece of work was encouraging and he has definitely improved from his last start third on a heavy track at Bendigo.

“There is some form in the race but I’ve alwayd had an opinion of our horse and I think he’s a really good chance to break his maiden.”
