WINNING CHANCES AT GEELONG TODAY

Three runners for us today at Geelong but The Good Fight stays at home.

Lady In The Sky, Leiter and Rainbow Thief will compete however, Mike has withdrawn The Good Fight from the Cup with the ground drying out and with an option for him at Moonee Valley on Saturday.

Lady In The Sky runs in race one, the benchmark 70 handicap over 2400m from barrier 11 and with Fred Kersley in the saddle.

The daughter of Savabeel has not raced since September 26 when she finished unplaced at Mornington.

“She’s found a strong enough race and she’s weighted up to her best,” Mike said.

“I gave her a break between runs, she struck a heavy track two starts back and was coming off a little setback last start so we’ve given her a chance to get over it.

“I’m happy with her and she looks terrific, she might just be half a run short but she’s there with an each-way chance.”

Leiter is in race five, the Dual Choice Plate over 1200m with Jordan Childs aboard and drawn barrier six in the nine-horse field.

“I’m very happy with him and he’s made good improvement from his first-up run,” Mike said.

“It’s a competitive race as you would expect and the smaller field suits and is he runs up to his last piece of work then I’m anticipating a better performance.”

Rainbow Thief (pictured) runs in race nine, the benchmark 78 handicap over 1500 metres from barrier one with Damien Oliver riding.

“I couldn’t be happier with him, he had no luck last start and he’s trained on very well,” Mike said.

“The only query I have is whether the inside barrier will be an advantage by the time the last race comes along but with ordinary luck I think he’s a great winning chance.”
