WEDNESDAY WINNING CHANCES

Three runners for us on Wednesday with Alburq, Arctic Wolf and Livvy Lass racing at Sandown.

Livvy Lass (pictured) is the first to go in race five, the benchmark 70 handicap over 1600m with Jye McNeil aboard.

Mike Moroney has freshened the six-year-old following her fifth last start over 2060m at Cranbourne and is happy with the condition of the daughter of Reliable Man.

“A little bit of rain would have helped but I’m happy with her and she’s freshened up nicely,” Moroney said.

“She’s drawn nicely and while Kurabui is the obvious favourite and looks the one to beat we are getting a bit of weight from her so with ordinary luck I do think our mare is a winning chance.”

Arctic Wolf runs in race six, the benchmark 64 handicap over 1800m with Jamie Mott in the saddle.

“We’ve kept him on the fresh side and is in good form,” Moroney said. “It’s a handy enough race and he’s finally drawn a nice barrier.

“He’s well in himself, the distance will suit and he’s holding his condition well.

“It would have been nice to see a bit of rain but I still expect him to run well.”

Alburq runs in race eight, the benchmark 70 handicap over 1000m with Lewis German’s claim reducing the weight to 59kg.

“He continues to race well without winning and was beaten under a length last start at Caulfield,” Moroney said.

“We’ve claimed to help him and with the scratchings he jumps from barrier six.

“We’ve freshened him, he’s bouncing this morning and this does look a suitable race for him,”
