HANG MAN RUNNING AT DOOMBEN TODAY

Three runners for us today headed by Hang Man running in a feature race in Brisbane.

Hang Man (pictured) is in race four at Doomben, the JRA Trophy with Glen Boss in the saddle.

Mike Moroney has been debating on running with the possibility of a heavy track however, with the track rated this morning has decided to run.

"We just feel he's got one more handicap win left in him before we have to weight-for-age him and it looks a nice race for him today.” Moroney said.

"Glen's had a ride on him now and he didn't get beaten far off a bad barrier where we had to go right back to last in his last run at Randwick.

"He had a few horses come back on him just at the wrong time and got shuffled back to last again and still only got beat a neck by Zaaki, who then went and won the Hollindale, so his form reads well.

"He is a bit deeper into his prep now, but he's been handling it with the fact we give him this time between runs.

“All things being equal, if he gets luck in running and the track is to his style, I think he is probably the one to beat.”

At home at Flemington Star Of Eden and Chicago Cub both look to have good chances.

Star Of Eden runs in race two, the $135,000 Goodwood Trophy for three-year-old fillies over 1600m with Mark Zahra aboard and is back in trip following her after a last-start 11th in the Auraria Stakes in Adelaide.

"We tried aiming her at that 1800-metre race because we really thought that was her right trip 1800-2000 metres," Moroney said.

"I don't know if it was the trip away, she's quite a light filly but she was very disappointing after getting a lovely run and looking the winner when they turned in but she stopped out of it."

"We've freshened her up and dropped her back to the mile and kept her on the fresh side and it looks the right race for her.

"She's got the highest credentials in the race and she's worked really well and we've decided to leave the blinkers on her and I just think the mile will really suit."

Chicago Cub starts another campaign in race three, the $125,000 Breeders' Handicap over 1000m and with Fred Kersley riding.

"We were disappointed with his last campaign, the only thing I can put it down to is we didn't give him a long enough break in between, so he's coming off a nice break today,” Moroney said.

"If you see the real Chicago Cub, he is going to be pretty hard to beat, but until they do it race day, you never know and we can't really find anything wrong with him or fault him."
