Spring time at Flemington!

Sabrage kicks off a lovely spring day at Flemington for Ballymore, the promising three-year-old due to take his place in the Listed Henry Bucks Stakes.

Not at his best first up at Moonee Valley - enduring a tough run, the son of Charge Forward has improved since and will appreciate the return to his home track.

"Flemington will suit him better," Michael Moroney said, adding that his main query was whether Sabrage is ready for blinkers.

"I thought I'd give him one more chance."

VRC Oaks heroine Brazilian Pulse is also second up, contesting the Gr.2 Let's Elope Stakes.

"She is taking time to come to hand this time in," Moroney said. "Her coat is getting better but still not quite right. She will run a long way better this time but whatever she shows she will improve upon again."

We saddle up two runners in the day's feature event, the Gr.2 Makybe Diva Stakes - dashing grey Glass Harmonium and fellow import Don Carlos.

Having his first run since finishing a brave second in the Brisbane Cup, Glass Harmonium fared well in Queensland - "he looks terrific," Moroney enthused.

"We have been really happy with him and he should be forward enough for the 1600m."

Don Carlos meanwhile, contests the race mainly due to a lack of other options having been balloted several times.

"He is a really nice horse," Moroney said, "an on-pace Gaileo who looks like being at his best at around 2000m. This is not an ideal race for him first up but we couldn't make any other fields so we've had to throw him in the deep end."
