ANOTHER TWO STATE SATURDAY

Another two state Saturday for us with five runners at Randwick and Caulfield.

Hang Man is our Randwick runner in the Group 3 JRA Plate over 2000m with Glen Boss aboard and drawn the outside barrier nine.

The import has settled in well in Sydney since his last start win over Persan and Mahamedeis in the Group 3 Easter Cup at Caulfield and Mike Moroney

“It’s not a big field so the barrier should not be too much of an issue,” Moroney said.

“My only query is how the race will be run - there does nor look to be a huge amount of speed in the race and he’s best when able to come off a fast pace.

“He’s handling the reverse way of going in trackwork and if he’s as comfortable at race speed then I’d say he’ll be hard to beat.”

At Caulfield last start winner Yatton (pictured) is the first to go in race two, the 3YO fillies benchmark 78 handicap over 1600m with Daniel Stackhouse riding.

“I’m very happy with the way she has trained on from her last start and getting up in trip suits her ideally,” Moroney said.

“There looks a bit of speed in it which will also suit us and with natural improvement I do think she’s a great each-way chance at good odds.”

We have three runners in race four, the benchmark 78 handicap over 1100m for fillies and mares with She’s A Thief, The Commoner and Quesadilla all engaged.

Harry Grace is riding the handicap top-weight She’s A Thief with his claim reducing the weight to 59.5kg.

“She likes Caulfield and although she’s drawn out I’m not as concerned,” Moroney said.

“Her best way is to go forward and cross to lead. She’s fit after two runs back and if she can lead them then I think she will be hard to beat.”

Brett Prebble is riding The Commoner who will jump from barrier 11.

“I’m very happy with her,” Moroney said. “Brett rode her in a gallop on Tuesday and she was particularly sharp.

“It’s an even race and tactics sure to play a part as will the track but with ordinary luck I’m expecting her to be competitive.

Quesdadilla will be ridden by Fred Kersley and will jump from barrier three.

“She’s racing consistently and deserves to win a race,” Moroney said. “Of all our runners she’s drawn the lowest however, I’d have preferred her to draw out a little as she can let down with a big finish.

“We’ll leave that up to Fred and if she can get some luck at the right time then she is certainly in it with a good chance at the weights.”
