BUSY SATURDAY FOR US

A busy day for us in two states headed by Chapada and Sound in the Group 1 Tancred Stakes at Rosehill.

Sound (pictured) will be ridden by Craig Williams and has settled in well in Sydney after his last two races in New Zealand.

“He’s done well and from the barrier I’d expect him to be in the first half of the field,” Moroney said.

“He looks nice and bright, my only reservation is the gap between runs with the races being put back a week but he’s in good order and in what looks a tough race I’m sure he’ll run well.”

Chapada has drawn alongside Sound in barrier seven and will be ridden by Tim Clark.

“He’s arrived in good order and his last piece of work on Tuesday was as good as I’ve seen from him,” Moroney said.

“He’s peaking fitness wise and drawn to be able to race midfield and I’m sure he’ll run really well.”

Buffalo River is our other Sydney runner in race eight, the Doncaster Prelude over 1500m with James McDonald in the saddle from barrier eight.

“There looks a little bit of speed in it but from his draw then I’d say he can get across comfortably,” Moroney said.

“He’s beginning to learn how to relax and that’s how we will try to ride him. He’s going well and a winning chance, especially if he gets the right run.”

At Caulfield we have four runners, headed by last start winner Hang Man in the Easter Cup over 2000m.

“Unfortunately he’s drawn one from the outside in a big field which is less than ideal from the 2000 start at Caulfield however, I’m very happy with the horse,” Moroney said.

“It’s an even looking race and provided he can get some luck from the draw I’m sure he’ll be competitive.”

Keats makes his Australian debut in race eight.

“He’s drawn nicely which is important from the 1400m start,” Moroney said. “He’s trialled up nicely and today will be a good stepping stone for him.

“He’s probably at his best over a bit further but it will be interesting to see where he fits in and we can decide if we press on from today.”

Nerve Not Verve is in the first race where she will be ridden by Harry Grace and has drawn the outside from the 1400m start.

“She’s first-up after a nice break and this is a nice kick-off point for her,” Moroney said.

“I’m expecting her to be competitive but whatever she does today she will improve on as she heads towards some nice races in Adelaide.”

Snapper is our other runner at Caulfield in race five.

“He’s in good form but this looks a strong race so he’ll need to be at his best,” Moroney said.

I’m happy with our horse and he’s ready to step up - his work has been excellent and in a tough race I still think he’s a winning chance.”
