BUFFALO RIVER RESUMES TODAY

Buffalo River advertises his All-Star Mile claims today at Flemington when he runs in race three.

Jamie Kah is aboard in the 1400m Open Handicap with Buffalo River drawn barrier five and Mike Moroney is confident the import will be hard to beat.

“He’s trained very well coming into this and he looks terrific, the best he has looked since we’ve had him I think,” Moroney said.

“His jumpouts have been excellent, he seems more relaxed this time around and people will see a mature horse today.

“He looks the natural leader in the race but he doesn’t have to lead - we’ll leave that up to Jamie to have him where he’s comfortable.

“He has his share of weight compared to a couple of his rivals however, he’s Group 1-placed and this distance will suit so I’m sure he will run well.”

Thunder Peak and Milwaukee are our other runners with last start winner Thunder Peak in race five, the Group 3 Vanity Stakes over 1400m with Mark Zahra in the saddle.

“She’s trained on well from her last start and I’m very happy with her,” Moroney said.

“It’s obviously a step up in class and a repeat of her Sandown run gives her a chance,

“It’s an even looking race with several starting off autumn campaigns - disappointing for her to draw barrier eight in a nine-horse field but our filly is nice and fit so it would be great if she can catch them on the hop and get amongst the placings.”

Milwaukee rounds out the day in the last race, the benchmark 84 handicap over 1200m with Harry Grace reducing the weight to 61kg.

“We’ve helped him with the claim and I was not at all disappointed with his first-up run,” Moroney said.

“He’s down in class and I think this is definitely a winnable race for him, despite the weight.

“His work has been good and he’s fitter and I’m anticipating a good run from him on his favourite course.”
