Friday night runners for us at Moonee Valley with impressive last-start winner My Diamonds Galore and Snapper at the races.

Snapper is the first to go in race two, the 3YO Maiden over 1200m with Mark Zahra aboard and drawn the outside barrier in a field of 10.

It is the first start this preparation for Snapper and Mike Moroney has a concern over the wide draw.

“The draw is definitely tricky but the scratchings have helped and we’ll take our chance,” Moroney said.

“It’s good prizemoney for a maiden and our horse has Group form in New Zealand.

“He’ll be better for the run tonight however, if he does fly the gates and can get across without having to do too much then I expect him to be in the finish.”

My Diamonds Galore (pictured) is in race eight, the over 2040m with Jordan Childs aboard from barrier two.

The last-start winner at Yarra Valley by six-lengths has pleased Mike since her win over 1968m.

“It’s a rise in class for her for sure but I was impressed by her last start win. She’s trained on really well and I was happy with her last piece of work on Tuesday,” Moroney said.

“It looks a competitive race but she has drawn nicely and I’m expecting her to be hard to beat, especially if she can repeat her last performance.

“We have an eye on the weather as there is a lot of rain forecast for this afternoon and she’s in the last race but she does have soft track form in New Zealand.”
