NIGHT AND DAY RUNNERS AGAIN

Day and night runners for us on Thursday with Quail Hollow and Langworthy at Kilmore then Iowa Hawkeye at Pakenham.

Quail Hollow is the first to run in race six, the benchmark 58 handicap over 2012m with Fred Kersley riding.

Quail Hollow finished third last time out over 1547m at Geelong in benchmark 58 class and Mike Moroney is anticipating another competitive effort today.

“He’s out in trip so we’ll ride him where he’s comfortable, especially from the slightly awkward barrier,” Moroney said.

“He’s nice and fit now and looks terrific. He’s got topweight as he’s the best horse in the race and it’s quite competitive so he’s got a bit against.

“He’s as well as we can get him, we’ve put the tongue-tie back on and provided he gets a trouble-free run from barrier nine than I’m sure he will be hard to beat.”

Langworthy (pictured) is in race eight, the benchmark 58 handicap over 1612m with Fred Kersley also riding.

“He’s improved for the first-up run at Kilmore and he’s drawn the right barrier to get a nice run,” Moroney said.

“He’s got a bit of weight but his best form should be good enough for this, especially as he’s got the advantage of the barrier so I think he gets his chance to win again today.”

Iowa Hawkeye is in race seven at Pakenham, the benchmark 64 handicap over 1400m with Jye McNeil in the saddle and jumping from barrier six.

“He’s made really good improvement from his good first-up run at Pakenham. He’s a consistent horse that usually runs well and even though the race tonight looks evenly matched he should be hard to beat.”
