CHANCES AT SANDOWN TODAY

Two runners for us on the Hillside course at Sandown today with Laybuy and Quesadilla taking part.

Quesadilla has her first run for the stable in race four, the benchmark 70 handicap over 1000m with Jordan Childs aboard. Quesadilla came to Ballymore in good order from Tom Hughes and Mike Moroney is pleased with the way the four-year-old has settled in.

“She’s done everything right, is eating well and nice and bright in herself.” Moroney said.

“She’s obviously a handy mare and her last start third behind Miss Albania at Moonee Valley reads well for a race like this today.

“That said, it looks an even sort of race which you would expect for this class. She’s drawn to get a nice run from barrier one and I’ll be disappointed if she doesn’t run well.

Laybuy (pictured) is in race six, the class 1 handicap over 1300m handicap over 1300m with Jordan Childs in the saddle and jumping from barrier nine after scratchings.

“I’m happy with him, he’s done well from his first-up run,” Moroney said.

“I’d say he’s definitely improved for that but then again he will need to have as this is a competitive field which you would expect for a city race.

“Today is a little bit short of his best distance however, if he can get the right run I expect him to run well with ordinary luck.”
