Noble Park embarks on spring campaign

Promising gelding Noble Park embarks on a spring campaign at Flemington on Saturday, the four-year-old hitting the track for the first time since an impressive 2000m victory at the same track in early May.

Held back from a possible Brisbane campaign - the 17hh bay given time to mature - Noble Park resumes in the June Price & Anthony O'Donoghue Handicap over 1410m with Lisa Cropp to take the ride.

"He is nicely forward for his first run back," Michael Moroney said, noting that Noble Park debuted with an easy win over 1208m back in February.

"He has always looked an exciting horse," he added, "and time was always going to be his best friend."

"This is an open class race but he looks a good light weight chance."

Our second Flemington runner Our Tigress also looks a nice prospect, having run nicely when resuming at Sandown and boasting solid second up form.

Only just beaten at her last two second up runs - one of those in Listed company - Our Tigress struck interference when resuming over 1200m at Sandown but was still not far away at the finish.

Suited up to 1410m with Chad Ormsby aboard, the five-year-old has drawn out wide but she does tend to jump well.

"She has got good gate speed," Moroney said, "so she should get across and be prominent - and her second up form suggests she'll be hard to beat."

Just the one other runner this weekend - As You Like It due to contest the final race at Seymour on Sunday.

Having only his second Victorian run, the promising four-year-old was an encouraging third at Sandown last start and in Queensland he had been most impressive winning a Sunshine Coast maiden by 4.5 lengths.

"We were really happy with his Sandown run," Moroney enthused, "and he has improved since - he should prove hard to beat."
