CAULFIELD BOXING DAY RUNNERS FOR US

Four Boxing Day runners for us at Caulfield including Rainbow Thief in one of the features.

Rainbow Thief (pictured) is in race eight, the Lord Stakes at Listed level over 1700m with Daniel Stackhouse riding from barrier one.

“He’s drawn to get a nice run and we don’t think it’s going to be run at a silly speed,” Moroney said.

“Tavidance is a short-priced favourite and we’re not well in at the weights so he will need to be at his best - he’s nice and bright this morning and with ordinary luck I do think he will run well.”

Des Moines and Shilo Lass are in race five, the benchmark 70 Fillies and Mares Handicap over 1200m.

There is a significant gear change for Des Moines, who is now in foal.

“I’m very happy with her, her last jumpout was good and her work is always of a stakes class horse,” Moroney said.

“We let her relax in her jumpout and I’ll ask Jordan to come out neutral on her, try and settle midfield and then finish off,

“She’s safely in foal and sometimes that can add to their performance and if she puts her best foot forward she’s certainly capable of winning.”

“Shiloh Lass we’re throwing her in at the deep end but we’ve managed to get Janie Kah riding which is a help,” Moroney said.

“I’m very happy with the filly, she’s held her weight and this race will give us a guide as to where she sits. There does not look a huge amount of pace in it but we’ll leave that up to Jamie and certainly if this filly runs up to her best than she is in there with a chance.”

Nerve Not Verve rounds out the day in race nine, the benchmark 78 handicap over 2000m with Damien Oliver anoard and drawn barrier seven.

“She looks terrific and is holding her condition well,” Moroney said.

“She’s up against the boys but she is racing well and I think she is right in this. She’s got a positive with Damien Oliver riding and if he can get some luck and be able to find a position early I cant see any reason why she should not be hard to beat.”
