BELLOWS BLOWS HOT AT YARRA VALLEY

Bellows got a great ride and a slice of luck was all he needed to post another win at Yarra Valley on Friday.

Withe Jordan Childs replacing Jake Noonan due to the emerging COVID-19 situation in Sydney, Bellows was smothered away along the inside in a midfield position after a slightly tardy start but Jordy did not panic, trusted the horse and when the opening came in the home straight Bellows was full of running and quickened up impressively to land the benchmark 58 handicap over 1200m.

Bellows has been racing well without much luck and Mike Moroney said the son of Zoffany deserved the win.

“I thought it was a really good win and he got a lovely ride,” Moroney said.

“It was bad luck for Jake but I’m sure we’ll make it up to him in the future.”

Moroney has found Bellows a frustrating horse as his race day performances have not quite matched his morning efforts on the track.

“He’s always worked up like a good horse and to be honest he’s shown me he’s a better horse than the level he won at today,” Moroney said.

“We’ve been trying to ride him like that but he’s been dogged by wide barriers.

“That win will do his confidence some good and we can place him to advantage in the coming weeks.”
