WINNING CHANCES AT SANDOWN TWILIGHT TODAY

Four runners for us at the Sandown Twilight meeting later today including last start winner Shiloh Lass.

Shiloh Lass (pictured) runs in race six, the Fillies and Mares benchmark 64 handicap over 1300m with Damien Thornton riding again.

The Foxwedge filly has thrived since her last start win over 1200m at Terang according to Mike Moroney.

“I’m vey happy with her, she’s done particularly well since her last win,” Moroney said. “We’ve been able to work her and she’s actually put on weight which is extremely good for her.

“She’s up in class and it’s a handy looking race with four last start winners including us.

“She’s drawn out a bit but we don’t think there is a lot of speed in the race so she should be able to get across and be on the speed. She’s a tractable filly and can be ridden back if needs be but we’ll leave that up to Damien.

“We’ve always thought she is capable of winning a race of this class and with ordinary luck in running I’m expecting her to run well.”

The Admiral is the first to go in race one, the Maiden over 1400m with Jordan Childs riding from barrier five.

It is the start of a new campaign for the three-year-old son of Pride Of Dubai which made his debut with a respectable sixth at Wangaratta in June.

“He’s improved a lot for the break, he’s more relaxed and his work and trials have been better,” Moroney said.

“He’s worked up nicely coming into today and while it’s difficult to tell the quality of opposition I’m expecting our horse to run well and I will not be at all surprised to see him win.”

Pineapple Girl and Lady In The Sky both run in race three, the benchmark 64 handicap over 2400m.

Lady In The Sky has finished in the first four all four starts this campaign, third over 2400m last time out over 2400m at Sandown.

“She’s trained on nicely from her last start and ticked over nicely,” Moroney said.

“We’re better off at the weights with Pufnstuf from their race at Wangaratta and it’s a smaller field than last time which is a help.

“If she runs up to her last start then she’s definitely a winning chance and I think she’ll be hard to beat.”

Jake Noonan is aboard Pineapple Girl and to jump from barrier seven.

“It’s crunch time for her today, she’s out to her right trip and it’s a good opportunity for her to show something,” Moroney.

“I just want to see her show us something today and on her work she is certainly capable of turning things around but it’s up to her now to deliver.”
