DIFFERENT VENUES FOR US TODAY

Two runners for us at different courses today with Johnny Thunder at Sandown and Bellows at Echuca.

Johnny Thunder (pictured) is first to go in the second race at the Sandown twilight meeting on the Hillside course with Damien Oliver riding and drawn barrier four in the Super VOBIS Maiden over 1300m.

The son of Nostradamus has finished second at his past three starts and Moroney says deserves to be winning soon.

“Of those that have raced there is some handy form but we’ve got Damien so that is a big help,” Moroney said.

“I’ve added a tongue tie and winkers to him just to what we can to help him.

“He’s as fit as we can get him, he’s drawn to be able to race on speed and unless there is a world beater among the unraced horses I think he’ll be hard to beat.”

Bellows runs first in race seven at Echuca, the benchmark 58 Handicap over 1200m with Billy Egan riding from the outside barrier 10.

“He had a couple of options and although he’s drawn the outside we’ve decided to run - wherever we go he just seems to draw wide,” Moroney said.

“I’ve dropped him back in distance as I think he’s more effective at 1200 metres and the drop in weight from his last two starts is also a plus.

“Looking at the speed map there does look to be a bit of pace in the race so the draw may not be as disadvantageous as we first thought and if he can reproduce his best form then I think he can be winning.”
