CHAWINDA DEBUTS ON FRIDAY NIGHT

Chawinda makes her debut for us at Cranbourne tonight.

Chawinda runs in race one, the 3YO Maiden Plate over 1200m with Jordan Childs aboard from from barrier three.

The Zoustar filly has been well prepared with trackwork and jumpouts at Flemington and Mike Moroney says is still progressing.

“She’s drawn nicely and she’s improved a lot this preparation,” Moroney said.

“She is still a little on the weak side and needs some physical improvement which is coming all the time.

“She has shown us a bit of gate speed in her jumpouts so it would be good to take advantage of the nice draw and it will be interesting to see how she shapes up in what does not look the strongest of races.”

My Diamonds Galore is our other runner in race eight, the Benchmark 64 Handicap over 1600m with Jordan Childs in the saddle and jumping from barrier one after scratchings.

The Tavistock mare has taken good benefit from her first-up run at Pakenham over 1400m according to Moroney.

“There are only nine left in and it’s an even looking race,” Moroney said.

“I’ve put blinkers back on her to sharpen her up and she’s fitter here and has definitely improved for the first-up run.

“The inside draw could make things awkward and on her New Zealand form you would think she has to be a chance, especially as I say she has come on a lot for the first-up effort.”
