BUSY FRIDAY FOR US

Day and night runners for us on Friday at Tatura and Moonee Valley.

Johnny Thunder, Sniper Strike and The Boy Wonder are heading to Tatura with Fred Kersley to ride all three while closer to home Shelby Cobra debuts at Moonee Valley.

Johnny Thunder is the first go in race one, the 3YO Maiden Plate over 1100m. It is the first start this preparation for the son of Nostradamus which shaped with pronmise in his three starts last time in.

“He’s drawn the outside which is not ideal however, it’s a race with a lot of first starters in it,” Moroney said.

“I’m happy with the horses and he’s going well - providing he gets some luck from the draw I’m sure he will make his experience count and run well.”

Sniper Strike debuts in race three, the Maiden Plate over 1450m. The son of Glass Harmonium has found the 800m jumpouts at Flemington on the short side.

“He’s drawn wide and I’d say we will probably go back from where he is,” Moroney said. “He worked along nicely on Tuesday and it’s good to get him started. I will be happy if he is running on at the finish.”

The Boy Wonder rounds out the day in race eight, the Benchmark 58 Handicap over 1980m.

“The distance will be better for him - he looks terrific and drawn nicely so it reallyt is up to him,” Moroney said.

“He’s got a few things in his favour and I will be disappointed if he doesn’t go close to winning.”

At Moonee Valley, Shelby Cobra is in race two, the 3YO Maiden over 1200m with Mark Zahra in the saddle.

The son of Toronado has pleased in his jumpouts at Flemington.

“He’ll jump from barrier one and it’s a difficult race to gauge with some other first-starters in the race,” Moroney said.

“Mark has been aboard in his jumpouts and this is a horse with a lot of natural talent.

“Our worry is the barrier - he hasn’t shown a huge amount of gate speed so ideally you wouldn’t want to be back along the inside but he’s a horse we have a good opinion of and with ordinary luck in running I’m expecting him to run well.”
