TWO IN THE SAME RACE ON FRIDAY

Poland and Tour Of Duty run in the same race at Bendigo today.

Both three-year-olds are in race two, the Maiden Plate over 1100m with Jordan Childs riding Poland from barrier six and Jye McNeil aboard Tour Of Duty from barrier 12.

It is the first time at the races for Poland and the son of So You Think has shown Mike Moroney good ability at home.

“I wouldn’t normally start him off on a heavy track but he’s ready to go and he needs to get started,” Moroney said.

“He gets early use of the surface and it’s a nice roomy track. From where he’s drawn if he jumps and puts himself there than that will be fine.

“His last jumpout was pleasing and he’s a colt with a fair bit of ability. If he can handle the track then I’m sure he can run very well.”

Tour Of Duty is resuming, he pleased with finishing second on debut over 1400m on a heavy track at Bendigo in May.

“We decided to go first-up at 1100m as there should be a faster tempo which should teach him to relax a bit,” Moroney said.

“That will be the plan to get him to relax, let him balance up and then run home to get his campaign going as we build to better races.

“With ordinary luck in running I’m sure he will run well.”
