GOOD CHANCES AT HOME ON SATURDAY

We have three runners at Headquarters on Saturday in Alburq, Chapada and Mr Marathon Man.

Chapada (pictured) runs in race six, the Paddock Plate over 2520m with Daniel Stackhouse in the saddle.

Mike Moroney is expecting Chapada to be ready after three runs time in and an excellent third last time out at Flemington.

“I’m really happy with him, he’s coping with the extra work and he should get a lovely run from barrier six,” Moroney said.

“He’s going really well, he’s fit and I think he’s getting back to the level of form he showed as a three-year-old.

“His work on Tuesday was excellent and I think he’s a great winning chance today.”

Mr Marathon Man runs in race eight, the VRC Heritage Handicap over 1400m with Daniel Stackhouse to ride.

“From barrier eight I’m hoping he can find some cover which is what he needs,” Moroney said.

“From his barrier last time he just got too fierce and over raced. We’ll try and ride him back in the field today, we certainly won’t be digging him out

“We’ve changed bits on him to try and get him sorted and he’s well, if he can actually learn to relax than he’s certainly up to winning this.”

Alburq finishes our day in the last race, the Bagot’s Cowshed Handicap over 1400m under Daniel Stackhouse.

“It’s a bit tricky the draw but it’s better than being wide,” Moroney said.

“He just wasn’t able to get a run when he needed it last start, he’s done well since and I’m very happy with him.

“It looks an even sort of race but if he can get a clear run then I do think he’s one of the winning chances.”
