WE'RE AIMING FOR A WINNING SUNDAY

We have three runners at Ballarat on Sunday with Arctic Wolf, Iowa Hawkeye and Zastarisborn to represent us.

Arctic Wolf (pictured) is in race four, the Maiden Plate over 1400m where he has drawn barrier two and Mark Zahra to ride.

The son of Sebring has finished second in all three of his starts and Moroney expects that to change today.

“He’s trained on well and looks terrific,” Moroney said. “He’s a horse we’ve always had a good opinion of and I think he should be winning today.

“It does look a winnable race for him and all things being equal I’d be expecting him to break his maiden today.”

Zastarisborn is the first to go in race one, the Maiden Plate over 1000m with Daniel Stackhouse in the saddle.

“We’ve dropped her back in distance and put ear muffs and a tongue tie on her to get her to relax,” Moroney said.

“She’s got a lot in her favour, the track should be just right and she’s drawn well so it’s up to her.

“It doesn’t look the strongest of races so she needs to deliver on the track what we’ve seen from her in the morning.”

Iowa Hawkeye rounds out the day in race nine, the Benchwork 64 Handicap over 2000m with Michael Dee in the saddle.

“He’s out in trip, he continues to look well and is holding his condition,” Moroney said. “From where he’s drawn in five he could land on the lead which will not be a negative I think as he can set the speed he’s comfortable in.

“He’s been racing well and deserves to win a race and I’m hoping it can be today.”
