A BUSY WEDNESDAY AT BALLARAT

A busy Wednesday for us at Ballarat with six runners for the stable.

Green Delight and Time To Dazzle both contest race three, the Fillies and Mares Maiden Plate over 1600m.

Time To Dazzle has been placed at her last two starts and Mike Moroney feels gets her chance today, despite drawing barrier 10 in the field of 12.

“The track is a heavy (8) and I can’t see it improving much,” Moroney said.

“She’s always given us the impression she’ll appreciate some cut in the ground and that she’ll be better over a bit of distance.

“She’s fit and well and kept improving so it would be nice if she can clear her maiden today.

It will be third start this preparation for Green Delight who has some form on rain affected ground.

“She’s been placed on a soft track so we’re willing to let her run,” Moroney said.

“She’s improving and her work has been good. It will be down to her handling the track and if she copes with it then I’m expecting her to be competitive.”

Meteor Light runs in race six, the Benchmark 70 Handicap over 2000m

The import pleased with a first-up fourth place finish at Sandown and will be suited by the heavy track.

“We know he’s one that will appreciate the ground and he’s drawn nicely to put himself in the race,” Moroney said.

“It’s an even race and if he was fully fit I’d say he’s the one they’ve got to beat but second-up he might just be half a run away.

“That said, he’s never missed a place on a heavy track and I’d expect that to be the same after today.”

Bianco Nuovo and Nordic (pictured) are both in race seven, the Benchmark 70 Handicap over 1400m and both are first-up.

“Bianco Nuovo is really bright and well and forward enough to run well I’d say,” Moroney said.

“There is quite a bit of wet track form in it but he does run well first-up and he’s definitely a winning chance today.”

Nordic has his first run for the stable but has trialled up promisingly.

“It’s his first run for us and he’s a stayer but he looks in great shape and ready to go,” Moroney said.

“His form says he should handle the ground - it’s a good starting point for him and if he runs up to his jumpouts then I will not be surprised to see him in the finish.”

Iowa Hawkeye rounds out the day in race eight, the Benchmark 64 Handicap over 1600m.

“He’s racing well without much luck - I nearly scratched in preference to running at Cranbourne but I can’t see that track improving much,” Moroney said.

“From the draw I’d like to think he can get some cover but if not then he might end up going forward.

“With a bit of luck then I can see him running well provided he copes with the heavy track.”
