MISS HAYWORTH STARS AT BALLARAT

Miss Hayworth confirmed the promise she has shown previously with an all-the-way win at Ballarat today.

Placed in all three of her previous starts, Miss Hayworth faced a stern task from the outside barrier here but showing her usual good speed from the start, was well-rated in the lead by Jake Noonan and after kicking clear around the home turn stayed on strongly to win the Fillies and Mares Maiden Plate by two lengths.

Mike Moroney said it was satisfying to see the daughter of Dalakhani transfer her potential into a racetrack win.

“I thought it was a really good win,” Moroney said. “To jump from wide out and show the speed she did I thought was most encouraging.

“I think she’ll reach city class if we can just get her to use her energy the right way but she’s getting better with each run and learning to conserve her energy a bit better.

“Jake thinks we might be best to keep her at the shorter trips for the time being but we’ll see how she comes through this and then map out a plan for her.”
