ANOTHER THREE RUNNERS ON THURSDAY

Three runners for the team on Thursday to keep our winning run continuing.

Vantastic’s fantastic win first-up at Benalla yesterday was our sixth this month with three of those in the city so the team is running well and the staff doing a terrific job in the current coronavirus situation we find ourselves in.

On Thursday Pollard is our first runner in race one, the 3YO Maiden Plate over 1100m at Kilmore.

The son of Love Conquers All ran well for third last time out at Sale and Mike Moroney is anticipating another good performance.

“It’s a stronger race but he’s drawn barrier four which will help,” Moroney said. “From that barrier I’d expect he will race handy and this give him a good chance.

“He’s been placed on a soft track previously so the going should not pose a problem and with ordinary luck I’d expect him to be hard to beat.”

Brutal Power is our other runner at Kilmore in race six, the benchmark 58 handicap over 1100m with Matthew Cartwright reducing the weight to 59kg.

It is the first start this preparation for Brutal Power (pictured), who won first-up last preparation over 1100m at Bendigo.

“He’s back from a long break and we’ve claimed to help him,” Moroney said.

“He’s trialled up well and I believe he’s forward enough to be ready to run well. He’s drawn nicely enough in barrier seven and he should put himself on speed.

“It looks an even sort of field and I’d say he’s there to run well in the race that does contain some good form.”

Green Delight is our night runner when she travels to Pakenham for race three, the 3YO Fillies Maiden Plate over 1400m with Michael Dee to ride.

“She’s also resuming after a little break,” Moroney said. “I’m confident she’s improved from the last preparation but tonight might be a bit on the short side for her.

“She’s shaped like a filly that will be better over a bit further and the plan will be to drop her out and ride her cold with the intention to finish of.

“If she can do that then I will not be surprised to see her hit the line hard as we look to step her up in trip.”
