BUFFALO RIVER AND MIRIMAR KEEP OUR WINNING RUN GOING

Mirimar and Buffalo River continued the stable winning run on Saturday with fine wins at Caulfield.

Buffalo River (pictured) was racing first-up and despite the steadier of 60kg dashed away into the home straight under Thomas Stockdale and went on to score a dominant win.

“I thought that was an amazing effort from him today, I thought it was sensational,” Moroney said.

“He looks he’s got some real ability - we’d planned on getting him up to Brisbane with him but now with that off I’d say we’ll take him though his grades foand get him ready for the spring.”

Mirimar proved to strong for his rivals in the Geoff Murphy Handicap over 2400m while Buffalo River dazzled in winning the following race, the Jack Elliott Handicap over 1400m.

Mike Moroney is looking forward to next months Warrnambool Cup with Mirimar, an imported son of Kalanisi.

“I thought it was a really good win,” Moroney said. “He got a lovely ride and what impressed me was the way he quickened up and ran past a good horse.

“He had conditions in his favour today but I was impressed with way he ran.

“The Warrnambool Cup has been the aim with him - we’ll see if we need to fit in another run before then but he’s going really well so we will see how he comes through the win today.”
