TERRIFIC TORONADO

The win of Quail Hollow at Sandown on Wednesday confirmed to us the promise of his ability but also the promise of his sire Toronado.

We always had faith in Quail Hollow and were happy to purchase more yearlings by Toronado at last year’s yearling sales.

In the past five weeks Toronado has sired 17 winners in Australia, including the impressive debutant Mister Montero along with city winners Affair To Remember, Teddy Mercury, Hypercane, Beehunter, Come Right Back and our own Quail Hollow.

And it’s not just in the southern hemisphere Toronado is firing with the French stakes winners Taos and Alwaab this year.

That Toronado is doing so well at stud should come as a great surprise - a Group winner at two, three and four and a son of High Chaparral from the family of champion sire Vaguely Noble.

We currently have a small stake available in two Toronado two-year-olds, a colt out of Segenhoe Valley and a colt out of Ole Rose (pictured).

“We bought both these colts at last year’s Melbourne Premier Sale and both are qualified for the Super VOBIS scheme,” Mike Moroney said.

“Both are strongly made and more importantly, athletic sort, which is what attracted us.

“Given the success of the stallion there’s plenty to like about them and they are both broken in and ready to go on with.”
