LAKESIDE RUNNERS ON WEDNESDAY

Quail Hollow and Shilo Lass are our runners on Wednesday when they race on the Lakeside course at Sandown.

Quail Hollow (pictured) is in race one, the 3YO Maiden over 1300m with Jordan Childs to ride from barrier six in the 11-strong field.

It is the first start since the spring for the son of Toronado however, Mike Moroney says is a stronger horse this time in.

“He’s drawn the middle in what looks a solid enough sort of maiden,” Moroney said.

“I’m particularly pleased with the improvement he has made, both physically and mentally.

“The trip is possible on the short side for him but this is a lovely place to start him off and even though it looks a good class race, with the improvement he’s shown us this time in, I won’r be surprised to see him run a cheeky race.”

We have to wait until race seven for Shilo Lass in the fillies and mares benchmark 70 handicap over 1200m, to jump from barrier 14 with Michael Dee in the saddle.

“The wide draw might be a bit tricky and there does not look a huge amount of early speed in the race,” Moroney said.

“We’ll leave it up to Michael to see where she’s comfortable, if she flies the gates and puts herself there then so be it.

“Her debut win was impressive and she’s pleased me since her first-up fourth here last time out this so I’m looking forward to getting her back to the races and with ordinary luck she should prove hard to beat.”
