THREE SUPER SATURDAY RUNNERS FOR US

Hawker Hurricane, Star Surprise and Tofane represent us at home on Super Saturday.

“We aren’t too worried about the draw as we feel that will be the right side to be,” Moroney said.

“The three-year-olds look the ones to beat but our mare has done extremely well, she’s back to handicap conditions and she likes the straight.

“She has improved a lot for that first-up run and has a few things in her favour so I’m looking for her to run well.”

Hawker Hurricane and Star Surprise run in race nine, the Listed Incognitus Stakes over 1100m, Jye McNeil riding Hawker Hurricane and Michael Dee aboard Star Surprise.

Hawker Hurricane is first-up since winning the Magic Million Classic at Ballarat last November.

“I think the track should have improved a bit by the time this race is on and he’s drawn nicely,” Moroney said.

“He’s coming off a short break and he’s only had the one jumpout but I’ll be disappointed if he doesn’t run well.

“He’s up against Garner which beat him here in the spring but our horse is there to run well and I’m sure he will.”

Star Surprise is back home following a luckless trip to Queensland for the Magic Millions where he lost any chance due to the delayed start

“He had a nice little break and he’s had a soft jumpout at Flemington,” Moroney said. “He’s drawn the right side of the track we think.

“The start will be important for him and the smaller field will help as he’s going to need some luck.

“It’s his first try up the straight but he’s trialled on it and seemed to handle it fine and if he gets a fast pace and luck at the right time then he can easily live up to his name.”
