TWILIGHT RUNNERS FOR US ON WEDNESDAY

Miss Ladybird and Flying Mr Davis are our Wednesday runners at the Bendigo twilight meeting.

Flying Mr Davis is the first to go in race four, the Maiden Plate over 2400m. The son of Savabeel has run well to be placed in his three starts this preparation and Mike Moroney feels he is close to a win.

“He’s racing well and I’m particularly pleased with the way he’s trained on,” Moroney said.

“He just needs to learn to get his head in front, he’s run very well his last two starts and this does look a nice race for him.

“The smaller field might mean he can sit a wee bit closer and then get a shot at them in the straight.”

Miss Ladybird (pictured, pink jacket) runs in race seven, the Benchmark64 Handicap over 1100m with Jye Mc Neil to ride from barrier four.

The daughter of Snitzel is resuming after an injury enforced layoff since winning at Kyneton last March.

“She’s drawn nicely however, it does look a strong race,” Moroney said. “She’s been off a fair while and I’d say she will need the run for sure.

“We’ve taken her along steadily and she’s going to improve a lot for the run - she certainly has the ability to win but off such a long break I will be happy to see her run well and then look for her next race.”
