DAY AND NIGHT CHANCES ON FRIDAY

We’re covering most of the state on Friday with runners at three locations.

Fight Back and Gretdotcom are at Geelong, Seminoles is off to Moe and later tonight Rocking Eagle is at Moonee Valley.

Fight Back (pictured) makes his debut in race two, the Maiden Plate over 1300m with James Winks riding the son of Glass Harmonium.

“Hes’s struck a strong race but he’s ready to go yo the races and it’s a good place to start him off,” Mike Moroney said.

“He’s like his sire and is a free flowing sort but ideally I’d like to ride him to finish the race off today. He’s still learning and it’s a strong looking race so I’ll be happy is he has a good experience, takes something from the race and can be strong through the line.”

Greydotcom is also on debut in the fourth race, the Maiden Plate over 1400m with James Winks in the saddle.

“He’s drawn a little awkwardly so the plan will be to let him settle and find his feet,” Moroney said.

“He’s shown us a bit in his jumpouts and he looks to have a nice turn of foot so if the race plays out well for him I will not be surprised to see him run well.

“He’s had a bit of practice and is ready to go to the race so it is pleasing to see him get started.”

Seminoles is in race six at Moe, the Benchmark 58 Handicap over 2069m with Daniel Moor riding from barrier six.

The son of Reliable Man won first-up on a heavy track at Ballarat in November and disappointed when unplaced last time out over 1600m at Seymour on November 24.

“He was stepping up from Maiden grade last time but I think he was probably entitled to run a bit better than he did,” Moroney said.

“That said he wasn’t beaten that far and I’m thinking the step up in distance will suit him.

“He’s got his share of weight but it doesn’t looks the strongest of races so from his draw he should be able to land just behind the speed and enjoy a cosy run. If he can get a few things in his favour then he’s there to run well in what does appear to be a winnable race.”

Rocking Eagle runs in race two at Moonee Valley, the 3YO Benchmark 64 Handicap over 1200m with Jordan Childs to ride and jumping from barrier five.

“I was disappointed with him last start where he was disappointing, we couldn’t find any reason for that but we’ve added a tongue tie for tonight to see if that helps,” Moroney said.

“He’s holding his condition well enough and is working well enough. It’s a valuable race with the VOBIS bonuses and he’s definitely got the ability to win it however, I’m not a hundred percent sure he’s strong enough to do it this preparation.”
