GUNDOWN SHOOTS FOR ANOTHER CUP AT KYNETON

She’s A Thief and Gundown represent us at Kyneton on their Cup day Wednesday.

Last start Moe Cup winner Gundown (pictured) bids to add another trophy to his cabinet when he runs in the feature race over 2000m with James Winks to ride.

The Kyneton track is listed as a soft (7) which Mike Moroney says will suit Gundown.

“The soft track will suit him and although it’s a slightly stronger field our horse is in good order,” Moroney said.

“He’s drawn out a bit as he did last start but they do tend to run along at Kyneton which will suit him and he looks to have a few things in his favour.

“He’s done particularly well since his last start, his last gallop was excellent and I do think he’s in the race with a big chance.”

She’s A Thief runs in race seven, the Benchmark 84 Handicap over 1200m and to jump from barrier one with Michael Dee riding.

It is the first start in Victoria for She’s A Thief, who last raced when finishing unplaced over 1200m at Listed level at Doomben in June.

“She’s drawn nicely and working along nicely," Moroney said. “I do think she’s fit enough to run well.

“The inside barrier is an advantage if she begins and if she can do that her best form is certainly good enough to win this.”
