PUEBLO GETS BACK TO THE RACES ON FRIDAY

Day and night runners for us Friday at Pakenham and Warrnambool.

Pueblo starts a new campaign at Warrnambool in the afternoon before Green Delight runs under the lights at Pakenham.

Pueblo runs in race three, the Maiden Plate over 1300m with Dean Holland to ride. It is the first start for the imported son of High Chaparral since finishing unplaced at Pakenham in April.

Pueblo has had a series of niggling issues and Mike Moroney is just happy to get the horse back to competition.

“He’s a horse that a lot has gone wrong with unfortunately,” Moroney explained. “The trip today is on the short side for him but he’s been off for such a long time it’s just a matter of getting him back to the races.

“He’s carrying some condition and whatever he does he will improve on having been off for such a long time but it’s been a good job by everybody to get him back to the races.”

Green Delight is in race five, the Fillies and Mares Maiden Plate over 1600m with Michael Dee in the saddle.

The daughter of Keeper debuted in New Zealand before finishing unplaced at Bendigo at her latest atart and gets blinkers on for her race today.

“I’m really happy with the way she looks - she has put on some weight and looks magnificent,” Moroney said.

“We’ve put blinkers on her in her work and they have helped a bit but she’s still quite green and can do a few things wrong.

“Pakenham is a nice big roomy track which we think will help her, she’s got a lot of improvement in her when she can put it all together but tonight will give us a better idea of where she’s at.

“She’s well enough to run a good race if the blinkers have an effect as she is a filly with some ability.”
