FEATURE RACE RUNNERS AT CAULFIELD ON WEDNESDAY

Bianco Nuovo and Top Of The Range are our runners at Caulfield on Wednesday.

Bianco Nuovo (pictured) runs in race two, the Alfa Romeo Benchmark 78 Plate over 2000m while Top Of The Range is in race three, the feature Coongy Cup (Gr 3) over 2000m.

Bianco Nuovo was beaten 1-3/4 lengths last start when third over 1630m at Flemington on September 25 and has pleased Mike Moroney on the track since.

“He’s done terrifically well and I could not be happier with the way he has trained on,” Moroney said.

“He’s drawn nicely and although this is a step up in class for him it looks an even sort of race with no obvious favourite.

“Our horse gets some nice weight off those at the top of the handicap and I do think he has an excellent each-way chance.”

Top Of The Range is on the minimum weight in the Coongy Cup where he will be ridden by Michael Dee and drawn in barrier six in the field of 11 for the $200,000 event.

It is the third start this preparation for the six-year-old who finished sixth in the JRA Cup (Gr 3) over 2040m at Moonee Valley last time out on September 27.

“He’s come on a lot for that run and he looks particularly well,” Moroney said. “I’d say he still has enough freshness in his legs that the 2000 metres will not be too short for him.

“It looks an ideal race for him before we can get him out to something further. It’s a decent enough race as you would expect but he looks so well and is training so well that I will be disappointed if he doesn’t run well.”
