COLORADO STATE BIDS TO DOUBLE UP AT BALLARAT

Pollard and Colorado State head to Ballarat on Friday to race on the synthetic track.

Pollard is the first to go in race four, the Maiden Plate over 1000m, jumping from barrier six with Jordan Childs in the saddle.

Pollard ran well last time out when second to Leporem Star over 1000m on the synthetic track and Mike Moroney is expecting another forward showing.

“I think he’s improved for that run and he has impressed me on the track at home since,” Moroney said.

“He’ll need to as it looks a strong race with some city form in it.

“He handled the surface so he has that advantage and a good draw so I’m expecting to be in the finish.”

Colorado State (pictured) runs in race six, the Benchmark 64 Handicap over 2200m with Dylan Dunn riding again and to jump from barrier one.

Dunn steered Colorado State to success over 2200m on the synthetic track at Pakenham last time out on August 20.

“He goes again over a distance that suits and he’s trained on really well,” Moroney said. “Having a look at the race there does not appear a huge amount of speed so he should be able to settle just behind them.

“The hard part will be the luck in running but that’s over to Dylan who knows the horse well now.

“With ordinary luck then I think he can go on with it from here, it’s a handy enough race but he’s in terrific form and I don’t think he will be far away.”
