Walton Hall gets to put his family aptitude for wet tracks to the test at Moe on Thursday.

Walton Hall runs in race three, the Maiden Plate over 2050m with Michael Dee riding and jumping from barrier three.

Walton Hall finished fourth at his last start over 1611m at Sale and Mike Moroney is anticipating some of the four-year-olds family genes to kick in today.

“The track is a heavy 10 and his mother was a mudder and her mother was a mudder so we’ve decided to run,” Moroney said.

“He does already have some form on soft ground and I have had a lot to with his female family and as a rule they’ve all handled wet tracks.

“He looks well and has trained on well - we’ve added the brow band sheepskin because he tends to get his head in the air a bit as well as the winkers to keep his head down when the pressure comes on.

't doesn't look the strongest of races and he's improving with experience so if he handles the mud better than most than he's in the race with a good chance."
