TOFANE TO RESUME AT SANDOWN

Tofane is our representative at Sandown on Wednesday when she commences her spring campaign.

Tofane runs in the last race, the MRC Membership Renewal Handicap over 1000m on the Hillside course with Damien Oliver riding.

It is the first start this preparation for the daughter of Ocean Park who has not raced since finishing an unlucky second in the Euclase Stakes (Group 2) over 1200m at Morphettville in May.

Tofane has pleased Mike Moroney with the way she has trained coming into this race.

“I’m willing to run her on a soft track however, if we did happen to get some rain and the track was downgraded then I’d think about scratching as i don’t want to flatten her first-up on a heavy track,” Moroney said.

“She’s trialled on a heavy track but obviously race conditions are different.

“I couldn’t be happier with the way she is coming along, her last jumpout was particularly good and Damien is happy with her.”



Moroney is anticipating a forward showing at Sandown.

“Ideally she will be winning as we are aiming at getting her rating up to get her into some of the better races in the spring,” Moroney said.

“Over 1000m then I’d say they will run along and she can relax and then finish off.

“It doesn’t look the strongest of races and it looks a nice starting point - all things being equal then I think she will be hard to beat.”
