TWO CHANCES TO BREAK MAIDEN ON THURSDAY

Two runners for us on Thursday with Gottaluvtrucks heading to Geelong and Iowa Hawkeye later under lights at Pakenham.

Gottaluvtrucks runs in race four, the Maiden Plate over 1435m with Jordan Childs to ride from barrier five.

The son of Camelot came from well back when finishing second over 1200m at Echuca when resuming on March 12 and Mike Moroney is expecting a strong showing.

“He’s trained on well since and his last piece of work was excellent,” Moroney said.

“This does look a winnable race although the import is one to watch in the race. I’m very happy with our horse and I’m expecting him to go close.”

Iowa Hawkeye runs in race two at Pakenham, the Maiden Plate over 1400m with Rhys Macleod to ride from barrier six.

The three-year-old son of Lope de Vega finished sixth at Geelong over 1300m when resuming on March 16. Moroney has removed the blinkers he wore there as he over-raced in them.

“He’s trained on well since that run and is in good order,” Moroney said.

“We’ve removed the blinkers he wore first-up as he over-raced in them.

“He’s a few first starters here but on what he’s shown us at home then I think he has a decent chance."
