TOFANE AND THE DELPHI TO RUN AT BENDIGO ON TUESDAY

Two runners for us at Bendigo on Tuesday with Tofane to make her debut and The Delphi looking to continue his good form.

Tofane is in race three, the 3yo Fillies Maiden Plate over 1100m where she will be ridden by Damien Oliver and jump from barrier three in the field of 12.

The daughter of Ocean Park has shown Mike Moroney good ability in New Zealand and Australia.

“She’s always shown us a bit,” Moroney said. “She trialled up nicely in New Zealand and has carried that over to Australia.

“She’s one of six racing for the first time so it’s hard to get a line on the opposition but certainly on what she has shown us home I think it will take a smart one to beat her..

“The 1100 is about as short as we’d want to go with her but she’s certainly ready to go and on the roomy Bendigo track I’m expecting her to be hard to beat.”

The Delphi (pictured) runs in race five, the Benchmark 78 Handicap over 2400m with Jason Benbow to ride from barrier one.

It is a step up in class for the son of Makfi who has not missed a place in his five starts this preparation.

“He looks bright and has trained on well from his last third here at Bendigo,” Moroney said.

“Although it’s up in grade he meets the two horses that beat him home last start so he should be hard to beat again.

“I’m not sure barrier one is necessarily an advantage but there are only seven in it so he should be able to get out into room.

“We’ve had a good campaign with him and with some luck I think he can grab another win.”
