Success in Queensland for the stable over the weekend, Beatboy earning black type with a gutsy but somewhat unlucky third in strong company at Eagle Farm on Saturday whilst Isabelle Lass was in winning form at the Sunshine Coast on Sunday.

Getting into an awkward position along the rails from an inside gate, Beatboy was always travelling well in the Gr.3 Tattersall’s Cup – only to be shuffled back early in the straight.

Angling for a run that never quite came, Beatboy showed good heart of finish the race off strongly, earning his first bit of black type with his eye-catching third.

A lightly raced four-year-old son of Rhythm, the promising chestnut has made great strides this campaign – breaking his maiden at Yarra Glen in late February before a runaway Sandown victory and a Gr.3 Easter Cup fourth.

He has raced very well in Queensland, at his run before the Tatt’s Cup really flying home – again somewhat unlucky – for a close second at Doomben.

Better luck at the Sunshine Coast on Sunday with Isabelle Lass a strong winner over 1800m.

Having only her fifth start, the promising daughter of Niello – a bargain $6000 weanling purchase – proved too strong for her 11 rivals.

Successful at two of her last three starts at the Sunshine Coast, the chestnut raced by Kevin Algie is out of a daughter of the VRC Oaks winner Tributes from the immediate family of the Singapore Derby winner Top Spin.

Further back this is also the family of the big race winners Taj Rossi, Dark Eclipse, Denman, Saintly, God’s Own, Stormy Passage, Alunya, Storm Queen, Anna Rose and New Gleam.
