TWO CHANCES UNDER LIGHTS AT CRANBOURNE

Bianco Nuovo and Lofty Heights are our Friday runners at the Cranbourne evening meeting.

Bianco Nuovo is in race one, the Maiden Plate over 1500m where he will jump from barrier four with Jason Benbow in the saddle.

It is the third run this preparation for Bianco Nuovo who finished third at his last start over 1700m on a soft track at Warrnambool.

Mike Moroney has made an important gear change for this evenings race.

It’s been a very warm day and I’m hoping the predicted cool change arrives before the races,” Moroney said.

“We’ve added the blinkers to help his concentration and he has been sharper in his work at home in them.

“He’s back in trip tonight as well and the changes we’ve made we think will sharpen him up and it looks a race he is capable of winning.”

Lofty Heights (pictured, outside) races for the third time in race four, the Maiden Plate over 2025m with Patrick Moloney to ride from barrier seven.

Scratchings have reduced the field to seven however, Moroney does not think the outside barrier will be a disadvantage.

“He’ll go back as we’ve been trying to teach him to relax,” Moroney said. "We only went forward on him last time as it looked like he could get some cover but it’s only a short run to the first corner tonight so we will aim to go back.

“I think he’s got the best form in the race, he’s been placed in both his starts and he’s a talent once he gets his mental game right.

“The small field should help and if he can do things right then I think he can win.”
