Busy Saturday for Moroney stable

A big day for the stable on Saturday with four runners on three different tracks - Pointe Dancer and Blue Sky Girl contesting races at Flemington, Voyeuristic in action at Wangaratta and Glistening representing us at Eagle Farm.

A speedy type who led throughout at Ballarat two starts again - again showing pace when a game fourth down the Flemington straight last time, is Pointe Dancer.

A strong two-year-old, she takes on some promising types in the opening event, the Flemington Finals Day Handicap, but she has the services of Darren Gauci.

"She has had a run down the straight which usually helps them," said Michael Moroney. "This is a similar race to last time and she is a fast filly who can put herself right up on the speed."

A $17,000 Classic sale graduate, the daughter of Noverre has nearly won her purchase price back after just four starts. She hails from the family of the Hong Kong champ Sacred Kingdom.

Blue Sky Girl has drawn a little awkwardly in the third race, the Rivette Series Final, but she will be better for a recent run at the trip.

Caught wide on that occasion, she had previously won her maiden at Sale in game style.

"She didn't handle the heavy going last start," Moroney explained, "but she still tried very hard."

"She will need a bit of luck from the gate but she is potentially quite a nice filly - it will be interesting to see how she measures up in Saturday class on a reasonable track."

A $40,000 Premier II Sale purchase, Blue Sky Girl is a daughter of Reset and her grandam is the classy sprinter/miler Ladybird Blue.

Voyeuristic kicks off his career in the second race at Wangaratta, a 1170m maiden. Raced by his breeders - the Thompson family - the son of Filante hails from one of New Zealand's finest families, that of the Group One winners The Phantom, The Phantom Chance, The Twinkle, Irish Chance and The Jewel.

We have already enjoyed success with this prolific family, The One winning at Group 3 level before being sold to Hong Kong.

"He is a nice horse and forward for his first run. He has trialled nicely and will develop into a good type of horse."

At Eagle Farm our tough stayer Glistening lines up in $150,000 Queensland Cup over 3200m.

A confirmed stayer, the imported son of Sadler's Wells got too far back in a strangely run Tatt's Cup and he is ready for the step up in distance.

"At his best he will be right in this," Moroney said, "our only concern is that he has had a bit of travelling and a bit of racing but he is proven at the two miles. A bit of rain would help."
