11.54 a.m. R1 10 Reliable Lad (4 g Reliable Man – Fiorenza, by Stravinsky) – Jake Bayliss; found the line a month ago in the Maiden 1580 metres at Waipa, and steps up in the $10,000 Maiden 2200 metres. Being able to settle is the key and a bold performance would be encouraging. Fixed odds: $18.00 & $5.00.

12.59 p.m. R3 18 Rumour Mill (4 g Postponed – All the Goss, by Quest for Fame) – Jake Bayliss; debuts from barrier 11 in the $10,000 Maiden 1200 metres. He was good through the line when trialling on ground too testing for him in August at Te Teko. His dam won three from eight in Australia, up to 1400m and two of those on good footing. Fixed odds: $41.00 & $7.50.

2.09 p.m. R5 22 Poppy O’Neill (3 f Pins – Katie O’Neill, by Zabeel) – Jake Bayliss; remained rearward from a wide draw on debut in the Maiden 1200 metres on 21 September at Taupo, and drawn barrier one in the $10,000 Maiden 3YO 1400 metres. The trip suits at this stage, although bred to go further, and inside gate provides economy in the run – improver. Fixed odds: $71.00 & $14.00.

3.19 p.m. R7 16 Iridessa (3 f Eurozone – Zennita, by Commands) – Andrew Calder; should have derived benefit from her debut run in the Maiden 3YO 1150 metres a month ago at Waipa, and ideally drawn (4) in the $10,000 Maiden 1400 metres. A long strider, the course should suit and finding the line solidly would be encouraging. Fixed odds: $31.00 & $7.00.

4.29 p.m. R9 5 The Boy Wonder (4 g Cape Blanco – Keep the Passion, by Keeper) – Jake Bayliss; gelded since contesting the Waikato Guineas (Gr. 2, 2000m) in February, he presented looking a picture before his trial win on Slow8 a fortnight ago at Cambridge. He resumed here at the corresponding meet last season with a very good third over 1400m, without a trial, before a terrific win next up over a mile at Te Rapa. Stakes placed in the 3YO Salver (Listed, 2100m) at Ellerslie, he has the right credentials to be an each way chance from barrier two in the $11,000 Rating 72 1400 metres. Fixed odds: $3.40 & $1.35. Following two recent trials, he kicks off in the $10,000 Rating 65 1400 metres where being handily drawn (4) should ensure an economical trip. Fixed odds: $81.00 & $13.00.
