PLAY THAT SONG RESUMES ON SUNDAY

Promising mare Play That Song is one of our two runners when she resumes at Cranbourne on Sunday.

Hurricane Fighter is the first to go in race two, the Maiden Plate over 1400m with James Winks to ride from barrier eight after scratchings.

The son of Savabeel has been placed at both his starts and Mike Moroney is pleased with his progress.

“He’s trained on very well and we couldn’t be happier with him,” Moroney said. “The scratchings have changed the shape of the race a bit so we will look at a new speed map and work out where it’s best to ride him.

“He’s gone back and been ridden forward in his two starts so he’s adaptable and we will just need to decide what we think is the best option.

“That said I think it is a winnable race for hime so with ordinary luck I expect him to go close to winning.”

Play That Song (pictured) resumes in five, the Fillies & Mares Benchmark 70 Handicap over 1400m with Jason Benbow to ride from barrier five.

The four-year-old has not raced since finishing a creditable seventh in the Queensland Oaks in May.

“It’s probably not the ideal track for her but it’s the ideal race for her to start off,” Moroney said.

“The conditions of the race suit her and she’s ready to go so she will be there.

“She’s still a bit on the burly side but she’s going particularly well and whatever she does here she will improve on.

“She’s come back bigger and stronger and I’m looking forward to a good campaign with her.”
