CLASSIC PLANS FOR SUPER IMPRESSIVE CHAPADA

With a clear run in the race Chapada confirmed the promise he has shown us at home with a dominant win at Wangaratta on Thursday.

Chapada had been unlucky not to finish closer in his previous two starts and Patrick Moloney took luck out of the equation by parking Chapada in second place, on the outside of the leader.

Chapada looked to be travelling comfortably on the home turn and when Patrick released the handbrake he accelerated clear and went on to win the Open Maiden Plate (1590m) by five lengths.

Mike Moroney was delighted to see Chapada confirm the potential he has shown on the track into race day.

“I thought he was impressive, showed his gate speed to get across and then relaxed,” Moroney said.

“He still has a little bit to learn but we did expect him to perform like that so to see him do it was most satisfying.”

Moroney intends to try and get the son of Bullet Train to the Victoria Derby.

“He looks an out-and-out stayer to me and ran right through the line,” Moroney said.

“There should be more improvement in him and we’ll press on to the Derby with him.

“A race like the Norman Robinson at Caulfield or the Geelong Derby Trial are options but we’ll see how he comes through this race first before making plans.”
