Lordoftheparrots fresh for Caulfield

A quiet weekend for the stable with just the one runner at Caulfield - the promising Lordoftheparrots due to take his place in the fifth event, the $70,000 Slickpix Cup.

Always well regarded, the three-year-old was most impressive at his Seymour debut in late May - overcoming a tardy start and a wide run in transit to win hard held by 1.3 lengths.

Stepping straight up to city class, the son of Lord Of Warriors (a dual Gr.3 winner in Hong Kong) got back to second last from an outside gate at Sandown in early June - running on gamely into third placing despite running into some trouble.

Due to have headed to Flemington after that run, Kingoftheparrots suffered a setback with a foot abscess - hence the gap between starts.

"He missed a bit of work," Michael Moroney said, "and he probably wants a mile but he has freshened up nicely and it will be interesting to see how he goes over the 1400m."

Glen Boss takes the ride on Saturday, Lordoftheparrots drawing barrier nine of 16.

Dodge Tide is our only other weekend runner, resuming in Super Vobis maiden at Seymour on Sunday - Damien Oliver to ride.

Due to jump from barrier two, the well related son of Quest For Fame was close at his first two starts over the summer and Moroney is confident that he has come on.

"He was always a bit on the immature side," he said, "but he is stronger now. We expect a bold showing from him."

A full brother to the stakes winner Feelers, Dodge Tide - a $160,000 Magic Millions graduate - is a grandson of the triple Gr.1 winning mare Tidal Light.
