All eyes on Randwick Saturday

All racing eyes will be on Randwick on Saturday and Ballymore is right in the thick of things with live chances in two of the features - VRC Oaks heroine Brazilian Pulse one of the main fancies in the AJC Oaks whilst King Pulse has many fans going into The Galaxy.

Both horses have fared well during their stay in Sydney and both have drawn the inside pole - a welcome change of barrier luck for the stable!

Michael Moroney could not be happier with Brazilian Pulse and he is hoping she encounters a smoother run than she did when a tough third after racing wide in the Vinery Stud Stakes.

"She has worked well since and she has a nice barrier for a change," he said. "We are pretty confident that with luck in running she can be right in this. Everything has gone right since her last run."

Moroney is also pleased with King Pulse's progress since his latest run, a Newmarket Handicap fifth.

"He got a little bit lost on the course proper here," he said, "but he worked really well and the inside barrier is going to help him at his first time going this direction."

A busy day at Flemington also - kicking off with Marheta who is second up in the second event, the Second Chance Handicap.

Catching the eye with a strong late finish first up over 1200m, the Gr.3 winner will be suited by the step up to the mile although she has not drawn well in barrier 16.

"It is a tricky draw for her," Moroney said, "but her first up run was very good and we have kept her on the fresh side. She doesn't do a great deal of work so it can be hard to get a line on her but she looks really well."

Hoping that Marheta is an autumn type horse, Moroney noted that she did not come up last spring - but she was racing in fine form this time last year.

Race two sees us saddle up two other runners also - Shylock's Daughter and Our Tigress - and both, despite also drawing out - looks good chances.

"The prospect of rain affected ground will help Shylock's Daughter," Moroney noted, "it brings her right into it."

"Our Tigress loves the wet too and she boasts a good second up record - it looks a nice race for her."

Multiple runners in the fourth race also, Fairfield Flame and Bronislava taking their places in the Riding For The Disabled Plate over 2000m.

Fitter for her last two runs over shorter trips, the imported Fairfield Flame enjoys a 2kg claim for apprentice Adam McCabe and she is down in class after running respectably on a track that didn't suit her in the Gr.2 Sunline Stakes at Moonee Valley.

"She is a good mare and this is a nice race for her. She usually comes up pretty quickly although she has been pretty burly this time in so she will keep improving."

Also well in at the weights with Jacob Rule's claim, Bronislava has been shaping well this time in and Moroney is confident of a bold showing - "the 2000m and the rain suits."

Sophrosyne, who has drawn nicely in barrier 3 in the Living Legends Handicap, is our final Flemington runner. He missed a run with a recent setback but has recovered nicely.

"The query is the gap between runs," Moroney conceded, "but he has worked well and he boasts a good record at Flemington."

Over to Adelaide for our other Saturday runner, classy mare Platinum Passion tackling the Gr.2 Queen Of The South Stakes.

Unfortunately she has drawn "a horror gate" - 19 - but she will get back and she should be finishing on strongly.

"She just needs luck in running. She has been knocking on the door," Moroney said - pointing to her recent excellent form, placings in Gr.2 & Gr.3 races at her last two starts, right in the thick of things on both occasions.
